  • Centre for the Study of Black Canadian Diaspora 205 Richmond Street West (Room 410) Toronto, ON, M5V 1V3 Canada (map)

The CSBCD was pleased to welcome scholar and anthropologist Dr. Lennon Mhishi on October 16, 2025. Following a workshop in the archives of the ROM with Curator of Global Africa, Tandazani Dhlakama, the CSBCD held a small meet-and-greet with Black arts professionals, OCAD staff and alumni.

Dr. Mhishi’s interdisciplinary work explores expressive cultures of Africa and its diasporas. As an anthropologist, his interests include "material culture and art practices; the afterlives of slavery and colonialism; and approaches to contemporary forms of exploitation, forced labour and human rights in different African countries."
